SIMBA Bhora announced their arrival at the summit of the ZIFA Northern Region Soccer League table, by humiliating Cam & Motor 7-0 at Wadzanai Stadium, in Shamva, at the weekend.
Going to the match, the Shamva-based side were two points adrift of leaders Herentals Under-20.
A goalless draw between Herentals and Golden Eagles saw Arthur ‘Tuts’ Tutani taking over the Region’s driving seat, for the first, in Week 10.
Simba Bhora and Herentals are on 24 points apiece and separated by goal difference.
“It was a great game, the boys came to the party and the fans enjoyed it,” said Tutani.
“The boys are showing a lot of hunger, everyone is putting in a hundred percent effort for the team and it’s very encouraging to watch, as a coach.
“Being at the top gives us pressure to do more and I believe it will also boost our energy levels and confidence.
“The boys are enjoying their football.”
The club’s hitman, Tinashe Balakasi, became the first player to reach double figures.
Having gone into the match with nine goals, he scored a hatrick to put his tally to 12 goals, in 10 games.
Banabasi Mushunje scored a brace and he has now recorded four goals in three matches.
The former CAPS United duo of Hardlife Zvirekwi and Webster Tafa, were also on the scoresheet.
“I’m really happy with the sharpness, everyone is scoring.
“It’s very pleasing, it’s even difficult to single out any player because they are playing collective football.
“It is important for us to keep a cool head, we want to take it game by game and see how it ends.
“I’m also happy that we managed a clean sheet, we have been conceding unnecessary goals of late,” said Tutani.
His team’s victory was the biggest win in the Region, and eclipsed the 6-0 wins by Golden Eagles and Black Mambas.
