NGEZI Platinum opened a SIX-POINT lead at the top of the Castle Lager Premier Soccer League table after edging bottom-placed Black Rhinos 1-0 at Baobab yesterday.
Delic Murimba scored the golden goal on the hour mark as his well-struck effort, from outside the box, sealed maximum points for the Mhondoro-based side.
Coach Takesure Chiragwi said:
“We are doing well and we are winning. We really need to thank God for this win because it was a tough match.
“These guys were doing well and the difference was just the scoreline. They came prepared showing that they don’t want to be relegated.
“I am happy we showed character and the resilience made sure we win the game and also keep a clean sheet as usual.
“Rhinos are likely to survive relegation if they play all their remaining league games like they did against us today.”
Rhinos coach, Saul Chamimuka, said they will have to work on the positives they have noted and try win their next matches if they are to survive relegation.
“We created the opportunities and we failed to utilise our chances. Sometimes we overdid things with many passes in front of goal.
“We hope on Saturday we win against ZPC as chances of survival are still there but we should be winning games.”
