SIX schools have been chosen to represent Zimbabwe in the Pan African Schools Debate competitions to be held in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania, from November 30 to December.
The event is organised by High Schools Debate (HiDC) and includes schools from Ghana, Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania and Uganda.
The theme for this year’s competition is “Speaking with a collective voice as African Children”.
The Zimbabwe schools are Northwest High, Bernard Mizeki College, Monte Cassino High, Brookside College, Bradford Private College and Millennial Academy.
They were selected after coming tops in national debate competitions held in August.
HiDC convener and co-founder, National Marwa, said HiDC campaigns against child abuse and child marriages with poetry and debate competitions aimed at educating children about the risks of such abuses.
“All these competitions are an attempt to listen to the children with the aim of educating them on the effects of child abuse using a children-centred learning approach,” said Marwa.
