Social media doesn’t measure artist’s progress: Julian King

US-BASED Afro-fusion musician, Julian King, reckons social media is not enough to measure an artist’s success.

He believes quality music can easily sell and appeal to the masses.

“I used to be bothered by why I wasn’t trending on social media,” he said.

“But Freeman helped me understand that it’s not about trending or going viral but it is about making music that speaks to people and sharing that connection and the rest will follow along these lines.”

He, however, conceded that social media was important in marketing good music.

“Social media can only be a useful tool for promoting your work and connecting with fans but it doesn’t tell the whole story.

“I urge all upcoming artists that they should not be fooled by the likes and followers they have on social media platforms because it doesn’t necessarily translate into success in the real world.”
