Controversial prophet Madzibaba Spenlodge Madenyika was yesterday thrown under the bus after the presiding magistrate in his rape trial dismissed his application for discharge at the close of the State case ruling that he has a case to answer.

Regional magistrate Morgan Nemadire in his ruling stated that prosecutor Sheila Mupindu through her three witnesses had managed to prove her case and he was able to convict Madenyika with the evidence that is on the record so far.

“The major difficulty of the accused was the reasons to cause the fabrication against him, at one time it appeared it came from an employer-employee relationship that had gone sour, the other time it appeared like sexual relationship that had gone sour and other time it appeared like it’s a rivalry in the Masowe business.

“As it stands, the court could convict the accused with the evidence that is on record so far and he has a case to answer in his defence outline,” said Nemadire.

Defence counsel Charles Chikore then opened the defence case by leading evidence from Madenyika on the witness stand who then confirmed the complainant’s testimony that she was employed by him as an agent to source people who staged miracles in his church.

“I’ve known her for four years in the work that we do as prophets, she looks for people to stage miracles at my church and make them believe that I was being used by the ‘spirit’ so that we could attract crowds and make money.

“She was also an agent for other prominent prophets like Madzibaba Moze also known as Llyod Gwasarira, Madzibaba Katsiru and she was also my lover for those four years that I have known her.

“The relationship ended when I realized that she was now getting involved with several prophets and also getting in sexual relationships with them, she was also now getting jealous victimising female clients who she had sourced threatening them for getting too close to me and sometimes even assaulting them.

“(The) Relationship ended in May and I never spoke to her again so I think here in court she is just doing her usual antics she does in church as she has been sent by my enemies who are fighting the church rivalry with Madzibaba Moze facing rape charges against my wife,” said Madenyika.
