Harare’s up market joint, Club Sankayi, will play host to Starbrite 2018 semi-finals scheduled for tomorrow and Wednesday.
This year’s edition saw 29 participants making it past the boot camp which was held at Sanganayi Creek in Mazvikadei.
According to the organisers, they have created an atmosphere for a probable family setup.
“We are all set for this year’s semi-finals with our participants expected to be tested on certain assignments before a panel of judges.
“The atmosphere is expected to be electrifying as we have created a venue equipped with first class lighting system as well as the very best sound system,” said Starbrite patron Barney Mpariwa.
The judge’s panel will be made up of Karen Evans, Selmor Mtukudzi, Asa Jogi, Monomukudi and Godfatha Tampleman.
At least five singers, three poets, three dancers and three juniors will be shortlisted for the finals to be held in Harare in January.
Mpariwa said this year`s semi-finals are evenly distributed across all the 10 provinces.
“For the first time in the history of the competition, Harare has less than five participants in the semi-finals.
“The prisons category as has been the case will be well represented by inmates from both Chikurubi and Harare central prison,” he said.
Again for the first time, a winner from StarBrite UK will be joining counterparts at Club Sankayi.
StarBrite aims at affording every Zimbabwean with an opportunity to showcase their talent regardless of one’s background race or creed.
