THE Kadewere Foundation played a part in the scouting of two young footballers from Murombedzi who are attending the ongoing training sessions with coaches from FC Porto.

Portuguese academy coaches – Francisco Couto and Joao Pedro – are in the country to seal the Portuguese club’s partnership with a local football academy, Royal Oak.

Panashe Chitowa, a goalkeeper, and Brendon Chikakai have been attending the training programme and all their expenses have been settled.

“Our mission statement involves stretching a helping hand to the less privileged,” said the Foundation’s board member Prosper Kadewere.

“We identified the two boys from Murombedzi, they are talented in soccer and we thought we should give them the platform to learn more from these foreign coaches.

“We’ve made it an effort to help in identifying talent, and nurture it, even through the paying of school fees.”

There is also a possibility players and technical staff from Royal Oak Academy will join the FC Porto’s High-Performance Camps, running from June to August in Spain.
