IT’S summertime once again and “party people” will be spoiled for choice this season.
Being another weekend, we give our H-Metro readers an update of what’s on offer in this Gig Guide, which is returning by public demand.
Below are some of the major gigs you might look forward to this weekend:
l BABA SHARO BACK IN DZ
Alick Macheso renews his romance with revellers in Dzivaresekwa Extension, which used to be his neighbourhood back in the early ‘80s.
Tomorrow, the sungura ace will perform at Padziva, which is located next to Chesa Business Centre.
He will be backed by his two sons – Esau and Tatenda – as he continues to usher them to the big stage.
Prior to the Dzivaresekwa Extension show, Macheso holds another pungwe at Landmark Bar in Epworth tonight.
Carlos Green is the opening act at this particular show.
l MEAT & GREET AFFAIR
Sherwood Golf Club in Mabelreign hosts the ‘Meat & Greet’ movement.
A brainchild of showbiz strategist Benjy Nyandoro, the movement is known for bringing together artists, journalists and promoters under one roof to exchange notes.
The event starts around lunchtime till very late.
l HOLY TEN AND FRESHMAN PARTY
Rap sensation, Holy Ten, will tonight headline a gig dubbed “FRESHMEN Party” at No. 15 Churchill Road in Mt Pleasant.
He shares the stage with ladies’ man Nyasha David and Zim dancehall chanter, Uncle Epaton.
Top club wheel-spinners, DJ Spice and Madherbelive, will be on turntables.
l CHIPFUMO MAKES REAL PROGRESS
Sound of Motherland leader, Progress Chipfumo, will be at PJC Restaurant housed at Jubilee Centre, tomorrow.
The show at 8 p.m.
A resident DJ will be on standby.
l NGWAZI GETS VENDA LOVE
Mark Ngwazi will perform at the Royal Gardens near Nandoni Dam tomorrow.
l SULU, ANDY FORM PACT
Suluman Chumbetu and Andy Muridzo will tomorrow combine forces at Pakare Paye for the one-day Summer Clash Festival.
It is powered by Starbrite founder Barney Mpariwa,
Bishop Mockery and Mighty Killi Killi will also take part in the event.
It starts around sunset.
l MONOSOPHY UNDER SPOTLIGHT
Clive “Mono” Mukundu, will tonight celebrate his 53rd birthday in song and dance at Alliance Francaise.
Progress Chipfumo, Derek Mpofu, Jonah Chivasa, Freedom Manatsa, Mwenje Mathole and Praise Chipikiri are some of the artists expected at the event.
l FREEMAN, MAMBO DHUTERERE
Zim dancehall stalwart, Freeman, will spend the weekend in Mutare along with Mambo Dhuterere.
The pair will perform at the “Love Shouldn’t Hurt” soccer tournament, thanks to Mai Hondo.
l YOUNG TURKS INVADE GWERU
Energetic performer Jah Signal will lead an array of Young Turks of Zim showbiz billed to perform at Gweru Golf Club on Sunday.
Jah Master, Ndunge Yut and Nkosazana are also part of the bill.
l MARONDERA CUP CLASH
Killer T, Freeman and Kinnah will perform at the Marondera Cup Clash tomorrow.
More than 30 acts are billed to perform at the event at Chipiwa Gardens.
