AS the countdown to the 12th Chipaz Bhora Tournament reaches fever pitch, the Sungura and Zim dancehall teams will begin training today at two different venues.

The tournament will be held on April 1 at DZ Stadium.

Event organisers told H-Metro that the Zim dancehall team will be holding their session at Glamis Stadium while their Sungura counterparts are meeting at Old Hararians Sports Club.

Chipaz said the move to hold the sessions at different venues was part of the resolution made by the two teams.

“The two teams are raring to go with training sessions starting on Tuesday at two different venues.

“The two teams are taking the match seriously and we are looking forward to an explosive encounter.

“We have been holding this event annually but this year’s edition promises fireworks considering that it also has musicians who are good at playing soccer,” he said.

Chipaz told H-Metro that part of the proceeds will be channelled towards charity as has become the norm.

“We are holding this event with the less privileged people in mind. We will reveal the orphanage of choice once the tournament is over. We, therefore, urge people to show up in numbers and contribute towards this noble cause,” he said.

Zimpapers FC will take on Christ Embassy FC in the opening game of the tournament.

Afterwards, UZ Legends are set to take on Drunkards FC.

Sungura musicians will then battle for supremacy with their Zim dancehall counterparts in the match of the day.

After the football matches, an all-night musical gala will be held at the same venue.

HKD boss, Freeman, who bagged two awards at this year’s National Arts Merit Awards, will headline the show.

Remington Gold, Bike Delivery, Luxe Interior, Autohitch Motors and Primus Energy are some of the sponsors behind the event.

The tournament is part of Chipaz Promotions’ corporate and social responsibility, which has become popular with fans.

A bumper crowd is expected at this event.
