SUNGURA and Zim dancehall football teams, which are set to take part in the 2023 Chipaz Bhora Tournament, will train at different venues, event organisers say.
The charity match has been slated for Dzivaresekwa Stadium on April 1 where a number of teams will take part in the tournament.
Zimpapers FC will play against Christ Embassy FC while UZ Legends Vigilance FC are set to take on Drunkards FC.
Sungura musicians will also square up against their Zim dancehall artists in the match of the day.
Event coordinator, Partson “Chipaz” Chimbodza, of Chipaz Promotions, said everything was going according to script.
“The two teams will start training next Tuesday but they opted to use different venues to ensure their game plans are not leaked.
“The Sungura side will train at Old Hararians Sports Club where there is a bit of privacy while the Zim dancehall team will be holding sessions at the Glamis Stadium.
“Being the 12th edition, we are taking this event seriously because this is the right time for us to make sure that we change people’s lives,” he said.
After the social soccer matches, Freeman will headline the main show later in the evening.
“We want to make it a fulfilling event where fans will be treated to both music and soccer.
“The event is a bit special for Freeman, who will be celebrating his Nama success with a home-coming party in Dzivaresekwa.
“As you know, Freeman started his career in the suburb after moving from Bindura and it would be an emotional return for the singer.”
Meanwhile, Christ Embassy has vowed to support the Chipaz Bhora Tournament whose proceeds will be channelled towards charity.
“I have a relationship with Christ Embassy through Pastor Ruth since they have always supported my initiatives whole-heartedly since Covid-19 times and it’s a good feeling to be associated with God-fearing people.
‘‘We know everything will be led by the Almighty in the name of Jesus so we have no fears at all,” said Chipaz.
He also hailed a number of sponsors who have come on board to sponsor the Chipaz Bhora tourney, among them Remington Gold, Bike Delivery, Luxe interior, Autohitch Motors, Christ Embassy and Primus Energy.
The tournament is part of Chipaz Promotions’ corporate and social responsibility.
