SUPERMODEL AUDITIONS START

THE much-anticipated supermodel competition in Zimbabwe got underway with auditions in various cities and towns, marking the beginning of a journey that aims to empower young women and take a stand against human trafficking and exploitation.

The auditions, which took place in Bulawayo on July 6, Gweru on July 7, will move to Mutare on July 20, Victoria Falls on July 27, Masvingo on August 17 and Harare, along with the Wild Card Auditions, on August 24, are bringing together participants from diverse backgrounds, showcasing the country’s rich talent pool.

The finals are scheduled for March 1, next year, where the spotlight will shine on the finalists, who are not only vying for the title but are also standing as ambassadors in the fight against human trafficking and exploitation of young girls. This supermodel competition in Zimbabwe is not just a celebration of beauty and talent, it’s a powerful statement against the exploitation of young women, symbolising a collective effort to create a safer and more equitable world for all.

Paidemoyo Chideya, the representative of supermodel, expressed the agency’s commitment to safeguarding models from the vulnerabilities that plague the industry. 

“We recognise the unfortunate susceptibility of young and aspiring models to exploitation and human trafficking,” she said.

“Our mission is not only to provide a platform for talent but also to ensure their safety, well-being, and sustainable livelihoods.

“Supermodel’s proactive approach to addressing the challenges within the modeling industry is evident in their comprehensive strategy. 

“From deceptive recruitment practices to lack of legal protections, the agency is tackling the root causes of exploitation head-on. 

“By integrating corporate social responsibility (CSR) pillars into their strategies, supermodel is making significant strides in prevention, protection, prosecution, and partnership to combat human trafficking.”
