Upcoming rapper Tatenda “ Taylor Wayne “Mzinde is focused and specialising on mastering jiti rap.
The 22-year-old fuses hip-hop with Zimbabwean traditional sounds, using instruments like mbira, hosho and congas.
His current popular song titled Maivhiveyi is on rotation on various local radio stations.
In an interview with H-Metro, Taylor Wayne said:
“I started the fusion of hip hop and Zimbabwean traditional sound in 2018.
“I have managed to work with artistes like Edith Weutonga on a song called Maichivei produced by Master Flexx last year.
“I can say that was my breakthrough song and from there I have just being pushing to make it.
” The song really got people’s attention and encouraging me to pursue that kind of hip hop.
“The feed back gave me hope and really motivated me to say i am now all in on being a jiti rapper.”
“My song Kuna Mambo produced by Quazor also got nominated for the Zim Hip Hop awards best alternative artist 2020.
“I want to thank everyone that has been supporting me and my music.
“I promise more good music and just kindly ask people to continue supporting as I still have a long journey ahead.”
Taylor Wayne promised to release more music and videos during the course of this year.
