A woman from Glen Norah B flats appeared in court seeking a peace order against her neighbour.
Patricia Nomsa Williams accused her neighbour, Asker Magebela, of breaching peace by calling her a prostitute.
Patricia also alleged that Asker does not sit properly on the stairs, causing discomfort to her son.
“I overheard them saying Mai Anesu is a prostitute who takes people’s husbands.
“When I was passing by, she said ‘basa rekutora varume vevanhu’, and my husband then told me to report the matter to the police so that she can name the people’s husbands that I took.
“She sits on the stairs and blocks me from passing. She does not sit properly on the stairs, and my son complains about it. I even changed the washing line that we share because when she sees me coming down, she rushes to put her children’s wet blankets to stop me from using it,” said Patricia.
Asker denied the allegations and accused Patricia of quarrelling with everyone.
“She passed by when people were talking and then everyone laughed and that is when she reported me, but I was not the only one there.
“She beats up my three-year-old child, but I don’t say anything.
“I was surprised when I was served with papers and while I was still reading them, she forced me to sign,” said Asker. Magistrate Sharon Mashavira granted the protection order to Patricia.
