THE Zimbabwe Theatre Association (ZiTA) is set to host a consultative meeting to gather submissions and insights on post-Covid-19 in the sector.
ZiTA chairperson, Gertrude Munhamo-Pfumayaramba, said the meeting will be held before the year ends to gather challenges, opportunities and recommendations for all subdivisions of the sector.
“In light of the challenges faced by the theatre industry, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, ZiTA is committed to addressing the issues and opportunities that lie ahead.
“The consultation will be conducted through a combination of online and live sessions to ensure inclusivity and participation from all stakeholders.
“We encourage actors, actresses, directors, producers, theatre spaces, festivals, institutions and technical professionals in lighting, stage management, sound, costume and other areas to actively engage in this process.
“By gaining a better understanding of our sector in all our provinces, we aim to develop solid recommendations that will contribute to the revitalisation and growth of the theatre sector in Zimbabwe.
“We believe that through collaboration and collective efforts, we can create a vibrant and thriving theatre industry that showcases the rich cultural heritage of our nation.”
ZiTA board secretary, Nomashawekazi Damasani, said the initiative was a step towards the revitalisation of the theatre sector.
“This meeting will represent a unique opportunity as we strive to create a vibrant and inclusive theatre landscape.
“It’s high time we pave the way for a new era in Zimbabwean theatre,” said Nomashawekazi.
