OLYMPIQUE LYON striker Tino Kadewere and Stade Reims defender Marshal Munetsi will no longer report for Warriors camp ahead of AFCON qualifiers next week.
The French Professional League on Wednesday confirmed that Ligue 1 & 2 clubs voted unanimously to block their players from traveling outside the European Union (EU).
Warriors manager Wellington Mpandare says he is still waiting to hear from the respective clubs and associations.
“We had written to their clubs and football association hoping for an exemption.
“So we are still waiting for an official response from them, they haven’t said anything yet,” he said.
A statement by the football governing body in France, LFP, reads:
“… The clubs of Ligue 1 Uber Eats and Ligue 2 BKT have decided to apply the FIFA circular of February 5, 2021 taking into account the travel restrictions in the world.
“In this context, the clubs will not release foreign players summoned for matches outside the EU / EEA zone during the next international period in March.”
The duo joins Aston Villa mid‑ elder Marvelous Nakamba, Wigan’s Tendayi Darikwa, Jordan Zemura (Bournemouth), David Moyo (Hamilton), Admiral Muskwe (Wycombe Wanderers) and Brendan Galloway (Luton) to be affected by the travel restrictions.
