A 20-YEAR marriage has collapsed after a husband found out that his wife was cheating on him, including exchanging text messages with a lover in which they were going down memory lane and discussing how he broke her virginity,
The couple was based in Cape Town and the husband, Cossam Munemo, told H-Metro that their marriage broke down when his wife, Virginia Ruzariro, handed him a divorce token on Saturday.
The divorce token was handed over to him at a family gathering in Southlea Park, Harare.
Cossam said he was so depressed he even considered taking his life but decided against the move for the sake of his children.
The couple celebrated the 20th anniversary of their marriage in February.
They married in 2004.
Cossam claims Virginia has been cheating on him for SIX years now.
Cossam told H-Metro he was having further consultations with his family.
“I was pained but zvakunopera hazvo and it has been a painful period for me from 2018 up to now, the first case was not handled well, and this is the second one.
“Ndakapiwa gupuro on Saturday and she gave her reasons.”
Virginia couldn’t be reached for comment.
Cossam first narrated his story on Facebook.
Reports claim Virginia left their base in Cape Town and returned home after she was confronted by Cossam over the issues which were tearing their marriage apart.
Cossam said on Facebook:
“My name is Cossam Munemo and I come from Njanja area in Sadza but currently residing in Cape Town.
“I am married and had a wedding.
“My wife comes from Chipinge, and her name is Virginia Ruzariro.
“We married in 2004 and we went together to South Africa in 2016.
“We have been staying well but sometime in 2018 I saw my wife acting strangely and she would spend more time in the children’s rooms.”
He added:
“On another day, I saw her sleeping in our girls’ room while she was on her WhatsApp chat, acting like she was talking to someone.
“I confronted her before I requested her phone but she refused with it.
“That then made me to suspect more and it gave me more depression.
“I then one day took the phone but she refused with the password until, one day, I managed to get her password.”
That is when he was confronted with the reality that drove him deeper into depression.
“I then took the phone to my workplace where I opened all the messages and discover that she was dating one Cosmas.
“They were talking about their love affair, vaitaura nyaya dzekurara vese uye kubvisana humhandara kwavakaita naCosmas uya.
“They were also despising me and the words affected me more.
“I didn’t expect that from my wife.”
He said he tried to get a pastor to help them.
“Ndakazodaidza mufundisi wedu weku church vakaedzawo nepavaigona kutibatsira before we engaged tete vanonzi Mai Rufu kana kuti Tete Ernet.
“She then sent a message to my wife so that she also says her side but she was ignored until wangomusiyawo.
“It was difficult for me. Ndakafunga zvekubva pamba ndikanogara musango kwemasvondo maviri.
“Ndakambofunga kuzviuraya asi ndakazofunga kuti vana vangu vanosara vakatambudzika.
“While I was in the bush an elder from church invited me to stay at the church.
“I was later helped and I returned home but it kept affecting me because my wife didn’t change her actions.
“We were then later assisted by her uncle but all was in vain, but we stayed together but after some time she decided to go to Zimbabwe.
“She told me she wanted to go and see her relatives but I was not happy about it since she just decided to go without us planning.”
He added:
“One day I saw some salt on our bed and I confronted her and she agreed that she had sought some help from a prophet.
“I later on discovered a chat in which she was communicating with a sangoma and she refused to open up on the issue.
“In September 2023, she left for Zimbabwe, she only told the children and later came back but I didn’t ask her.
“In March this year, she left for Zimbabwe but, after a month, I was told that she was now staying with another man in Chipinge.
“I then investigated and found out that she was now staying with Simba Munamba.”
