WARRIORS continue with their 2019 AFCON qualifiers campaign with a tough encounter against Democratic Republic of Congo’s at the Stade des Martyrs in Kinshasa tomorrow.
The match kicks off at 7:30 pm.
Zimbabwe top Group G on superior goal difference and have the same points (4) with DRC while the other teams in the group, Congo-Brazzaville and Liberia have a single point each.
Two top teams from each group will qualify for the AFCON finals to be held in Cameroon in June 2019.
Warriors team manager Wellington Mpandare said the boys are ready for the battle and are confident of a positive result.
They arrived in Kinshasa on Wednesday.
“The team arrived well and preparations have been going on well. They are ready for battle,” said Mpandare.
DRC are going into match with a star-studied squad that include Aston Villa’s Yannick Bolasie, Jacques Maghoma (Birmingham City), Arthur Masuaka (West Ham) and Benik Afobe (Stoke City) and other players who play for teams in European top leagues including FC Porto.
With a return leg set for next Tuesday here in Harare at the National Sports Stadium, Zimbabwe are going into tomorrow’s match desperate to avoid a defeat.
The match starts at 7:00 pm.
“It’s a game we have been preparing so well, we arrived here on Wednesday and conducted some training sessions ahead of the game.
“The boys are confident of a positive result,” added Mpandare.
