Whawha FC coach Luke Petros believes his team is geared up to collect maximum points against FC Platinum in the Chibuku Super Cup match tomorrow.
FC Platinum gave Whawha a dreadful welcome to the topflight league with a 6-0 thrashing in the first round of the Chibuku Super Cup and the two sides are scheduled to battle it out in the return leg tomorrow at Mandava Stadium in Zvishavane at 3pm.
In an interview with H-Metro Sport, Petros promised a better show.
“It is always a nightmare to concede more than two goals in a match. The last time we played FC Platinum I think we have them too much room and respect. They were all over the pitch and the boys struggled to contain them. We were so bad that we ended up playing recklessly and we went on to lose by a wild margin.
“I think the boys are now mentally prepared for them. The lads are now in a position to know the consequences of giving away the ball loosely. It is very unfortunate that whenever we play FC Platinum, we are always worried about our fitness state. That is an area which gives them the edge. They were playing CAF Champions League and of course they are not fully fit but they have an upper hand.
“Our target is to do well in the second round of the competition and we are targeting maximum points tomorrow without a doubt. The boys are raring to go. We are going to try our utmost to reduce the deficit. I am sure we are going to get something out of tomorrow’s game,” said Petros.
Whawha are still to taste victory after losing in succession against FC Platinum and Ngezi Platinum before salvaging a draw against Triangle.
Ngezi Platinum are dictating the pace in Group 4 with nine points followed by FC Platinum with six points. Triangle and Whawha are tied at the bottom with one point apiece.
