A STONERIDGE woman has appeared in court accused of defrauding her nephew in a botched stand deal.
Yvonne Mangwiro, 44, was not asked to plead when she appeared before Harare magistrate Victoria Mashamba charged with fraud.
She was remanded to January 9 and was advised to come to court on December 20 for bail application.
Circumstances are that Mangwiro misrepresented information to the complainant when the complainant approached her saying he wanted a residential stand in Stoneridge.
Mangwiro told the complainant that she had a residential stand which she co-owned with her husband.
She also told the complainant that the stand was selling for US3 000.
Acting to the misrepresentation, the complainant paid $2 100 and US500 but was not given the receipts to show that he had paid.
The matter came to light in November when the actual owner of the stand approached the complainant with all requisite papers.
The complainant later realised that he was duped prompting him to report the matter to the police leading to the arrest of Mangwiro.
As a result, the complainant was duped $2 100 and US500 and nothing was recovered.
Lancelot Mutsokoti appeared for the state.
