A HARARE woman has taken her ex-husband, who sells clothes, to the maintenance court demanding US$100 for the upkeep of their one-year-old.

Loice Tanyanyiwa told the court she needs the money for supplements, clothes and food. “The child is no longer breastfeeding and needs supplementary and also US$20 for diapers every month.

“l also need money for medication, clothes and food.”

Loice told the court that her ex-husband, Joseph Tarugare, had another child and used to make US$500 when they were still staying together.

In response, Joseph offered US$40.

“I am not earning much these days. My business is not doing well. I agree I used to realise US$500 but currently l am only realising US$200.

“When things are back to normal I will give her the amount she wants,” he said. However, magistrate Ayanda Dhlamini granted the sum of US$60 starting at the end of this month.
