A Chinhoyi woman appeared in court for selling liquor without a valid license.
Tambudzai Zuze, 43, of Chinhoyi appeared before Chinhoyi provincial magistrate Melody Rwizi charged with two counts of Contravening Public Health Act.
She pleaded guilty and was fined $7000 for each count or spend 60 days in jail.
Zuze will pay $1400.
Prosecuting Nyasha Sibesha told the court that on September 1st 2021, police officers were on patrol in Hunyani Farm and they arrived at Zuze’s homestead where they found her selling beer around 4pm.
Constable Rushwaya who was in civilian attire went on to buy 1x 1,25mls of Super Chibuku beer at $1,30 from Zuze.
Other police officers who were outside entered the homestead and asked her to produce a valid liquor licence and she failed.
Police recovered 16×1,25mls of Scud Chibuku, 12×1,25mls Chibuku beer and 1,25mls of Super Chibuku which was bought by Rushwaya.
On the second count, Zuze was asked to produce a liquor licence and she failed.
She was arrested for selling alcohol without a valid license.
