HARARE-based poet, Ngonidzashe Paradzahova, is set to launch his debut album on Saturday at Jasen Mphepho Little Theatre in Eastlea, Harare.
Paradzahova, popularly known as Mambo Guramatunhu, will launch his album on the same day that he also celebrates his 30th birthday.
With a decade-long journey in poetry, Mambo Guramatunhu has established himself as a prominent figure in the artistic community, raking numerous accolades, including a prestigious NAMA nomination in 2023.
Since discovering his passion for the arts during his formative years, Mambo Guramatunhu has captivated audiences with his heartfelt and thought-provoking compositions.
His artistic journey has been one of continuous growth and learning, with each experience shaping his poetic prowess.
“We learn every day. I cannot say I know the way, but it has been a wonderful journey with good times and sad moments.
“The industry needs poets to be competent enough to demand their space by producing work that is competitive on social media.
“Right now, there is no industry and there’s no space for poetry,” he said.
The launch of the album “Zvombo” marks a significant milestone in Mambo Guramatunhu’s career, symbolising a transition from what he refers to as “kindergarten poetry” to a more mature and business-oriented approach.
The event will be graced by performances from Lucknore Magaya, MC on the day, and dub poet Albert Nyathi, among other popular artists.
