A XIMEX dealer has appeared in court to answer to criminal nuisance charges emanating from an interview he had with H-Metro in which he claimed he was an agent, who was buying human toes, between US$25 000 – US$75 000.

David Kaseke, of Mufakose, was not asked to plead when he appeared before Harare magistrate, Minel Narotam, who released him on $8 000 bail and remanded him to June 10.

The court heard that the self-employed cellphone dealer was at Ximex Mall on May 27 this year where he was approached by an H-Metro photographer who was enquiring about the rumour related to those who were engaged in selling ‘‘toes.’’

Kaseke allegedly told the photographer that he was an agent for the ‘‘toe buyers’’ and was charging a US$200 agent fee. He allegedly went on to narrate that the small toe was being bought between      US$25 000 to US$30 000 while the big toe was being bought for US$75 000. The video went viral on social media and further interviews were made and Kaseke indicated that he was drunk and joking. The State alleges he acted unlawfully.

Tariro Jani appeared for the State.

The video was posted on many social media sites.
