BLACK Rhinos forward Francisco Zekumbawire has reportedly turned down a contract offered by African Champions League bound Zambian club Nkana Football  Club.

Zekumbawire was offered a one-year contract with Nkana FC without any trials held.

“Zekumbawire was supposed to sign a contract with Nkana FC of Zambia last month.

“He was going to be signed without any trials since the team was already interested in the player as it had been monitoring his performance last season.

“He was going to sign a one year contract worth US$900 per month,” said the source.

The source revealed that Zekumbawire went AWOL the day he was supposed to sign the contract.

“The day he was supposed to seal the deal of joining Nkana FC, Zekumbawire did not show up.

“His mobile phones were unavailable and no one knew his whereabouts including his manager,” the source told H-Metro.

However, another source revealed that Zekumbawire chickened out since he was not fit and afraid of disappointing his manager.

Zekumbawire’s manager Professor Tatenda Wadyajena refused to comment.

Zekumbawire refused to entertain H-Metro.
