Paul Pindani in Chinhoyi
A man on attachment at Zesa has been dragged to court for assaulting his wife.
Tinashe Chindeja, of Chinhoyi appeared before Chinhoyi provincial magistrate Melody Rwizi charged with Domestic Violence.
He pleaded guilty to the charge and he was fined $10 000 or 60 days in prison.
Another six months was suspended for five years on condition of good behaviour.
The complainant is his wife Caroline Peter, 22.
Prosecuting Mutsai Chitsiga told the court that on July 26, a dispute arose between the two over their neighbour’s child who was playing with their child.
Peter tried to explain to her husband that it was wrong for him to hate a very young child who was playing with their child.
This did not go down well with Chindeja, who started assaulting his wife with a log twice on the head and once on her ribs when he was trying to chock her neck.
Peter made a report at ZRP Chemagamba leading to Chindeja’s arrest.
She was medically examined at Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital.
