THE Zimbabwe Music Rights Association (ZIMURA) has announced the people who will fill some of the posts on its new board elected two weeks ago.

The board was elected two weeks ago during their Annual General Meeting in Harare.

Albert Nyathi was re-elected the chairperson of the board while First Farai got the vice-chairperson post.

In a statement, the new posts are meant to revamp the association.

“Alexio ‘Goodchild’ Gwenzi will be now the director of information and publicity, (he is) a trained and qualified media expert who is set to graduate with a Master of Science in Journalism and Media Studies from the Midlands State University, this year.

“Rapper Mudiwa Hood, who is a banker and senior manager at Steward Bank, got the Secretary General position whose mandate, as Director of Innovation and Strategy, will be to find ways of generating more revenue for the organisation.

“The female gospel musician, Janet Manyowa, a qualified chartered accountant, retained the treasurer’s post while Philip Chifumbu, a prominent Afro fusion artist, was allocated the events and planning portfolio.”

Added the statement:

“Deputy Minister of ICT, Postal and Courier Services, Hon Dinngimuzi Phuti, who was appointed to the board by the ZIMURA Council, will be responsible for relationship management and liaison.

“W.P. Zhangazha continues with his role as the association’s legal advisor on the Board, whilst Mrs Polisile Ncube Chimhini, who is the Executive Director of Zimura remains as Ex Officio member of the board, doubling up as the board secretary.

“These new positions were created in order to increase effectiveness of the board as the association seeks to transform itself.

“We can say this is a transformational board, and the coming in of young blood such as Gwenzi, Manyowa and Mudiwa Hood onto the board will see the organisation transforming into a world class Collective Management Organisation.”
