THE Zimbabwe Prisons and Correctional Service is evolving and the latest group of officers, who graduated in a management and leadership development course, will help shape the organisation’s future.
Twenty six male and 24 female officers graduated yesterday.
ZPCS Commissioner General, Moses Chihobvu, said:
“The management and leadership development course has equipped you with a set of vital skills and knowledge that will assist in shaping the future of ZPCS.
“It should be noted that the department is capable of achieving its Five-Year Strategic Plan objectives and goals through such programmes that are intended to successfully bridge skills and knowledge gaps.
“It has been proved that leaders can attain the requisite knowledge, and skills, that are critical for turning around the fortunes of organisations through training and development.
“Hence, this Staff College was designed to equip course participants with the requisite leadership and management skills and capabilities for the successful transformation of the ZPCS and society at large.”
The participants were trained in introduction to corrections, correctional administration, entrepreneurship, correctional law, Portuguese, information, communication technology, psychology, sociology, counselling and civic education.
Comm-Gen said the courses shall help the organisation to successfully implement rehabilitation and re-integration programmes.
