ZIMPAPERS Television Network (ZTN) head of sound, Mbaki Nleya, is set to hold a two-day expo on sound, lighting and new multi-media training next month.

Dubbed “AV Expo”, the event runs from June 26-27 at the Nelson Mandela Hall, Harare Showgrounds.

It will be held under the theme “Innovate to Elevate: Enhancing Creativity & Entrepreneurship” and 30 exhibitors are set to exchange skills.

In an interview with H-Metro,  Mbaki — a revered sound engineer, multi-instrumentalist, and audio production guru — confirmed the expo.

“I can confirm that the expo will go ahead according to plan where we are targeting at least 30 practitioners or organisations to come and showcase their skills next month.

“The expo offers a broad spectrum from light and sound technology, stage, AV systems integration, and display and media technology.

“The AV Expo is the perfect setting for presenting your new products,” he said.

Mbaki, who was the first to come up with an academy that offers training in sound technology, music production and audio production in 2017, was upbeat the guests will leave the expo empowered.

“With extensive marketing measures, we seek to reach out to the industry’s decision-makers directly for example venue operators, corporate event managers in companies and agencies, interior architects, stage designers, studio operators and system integrators.

“We want exhibitors to make meaningful connections with respected people in the industry.

“The expo is a trade exhibition event open to everyone who works, or who has an interest in entertainment technology.

“However, children under the age of 16, will not be permitted while senior students of senior age (11+) may attend for education purposes if accompanied and supervised by a responsible adult,” he added.

To meet international standards, the exhibition space comes in packages ranging from US$250, US$350 to US$550.

The packages come with live-stream facilities, free Wifi services and space for individuals to erect their banners.

The expo was started in 2017 while the second edition was held in 2019.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the expo was shelved between 2020-23 and it only returned this year.
